“Invitation to a New Beginning”
Kathleen McPherson
Well, we are definitely living in unusual times. As we try to adapt to the everchanging rules regarding the opening of schools or meetng as a group, you have shown your willingness and professionalism to s3ll hold true to the ideals of DKG. Thank you Execu3ve board members for your
support to stay on to serve Area XIII.
Training for the State Directors and CommiHees was held via Zoom the end of June. It was very informa3ve and helpful for those of us who have not served at the state level before. Much information has been placed on the International and State Websites for review or if someone was unable to aHend the training. The new Area
Directors for this biennium will be called Charlotte’s Web of Characters. Presidents and Treasurers, if you didn’t attend the full training that reviewed the Treasurer Handbook, mini money talks and the full training are also available on the DKG CA website.
As schools are opening, classroom teachers still need our help and encouragement to meet the needs of their students. Reach out to the working teachers in your membership or nearby schools to see what you can do to assist them. Many times, you can help from the comfort of your own home by helping cut out items or making work packets for students. Last year Delta Nu members were asked to make short videos of themselves reading children’s books aloud. The teachers said they used them with their students to promote reading.
I look forward to working with all of you. I can always be reached by cell phone: 626-712-3329 or email: [email protected].
Ava Smalley,
Area XIII Director
